What is the Almanac?
We are producing THREE volumes, each covering in-depth stories of the club, the players and the matches. You can find more detail about each individual volume by clicking on the tab at the side of this page, but in brief:
Volume One covers the years 1865 to 1940, with around 80,000 words of text unveiling the season-by-season stories on and off the pitch alongside detailed charts of statistics for each season.
Volume Two is a biographical history of every player to have appeared in even a single match for the club, all the managers, trainers and off-field personnel. Unlike other books of this ilk, we are going right back to 1865 and telling the stories of hundreds of players and staff who served the club before it joined the Football League in 1892.
Volume Three is the latter equivalent to Volume One, and details everything from 1940 to the present day with all the stats and a further 80,000+ words of text.
Other aspects include details of the early grounds and changes in philosophy, the early innovations and the people who made them, while showcasing an impressive array of photos, many never previously published and, for example, we have even unearthed the earliest known piece of Forest memorabilia which dates back to 1874.
